There is a 4-barrel carburetor atop, and on the back is a 200R4 4-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt at the same time as the engine. Remembering the SS was for the badging ONLY, this sports its original and rebuilt at 105,000 mile engine in V8 in 305ci format. Gracing the headliner is a factory overhead console with a halon fire extinguisher and a factory installed analog trip meter. Gray carpet floods the floors and is as clean as a whistle and only slightly faded, as is the tight gray fuzzy headliner above. Part of the Choo Choo package is the addition of wood burl dressing for the dash as well as the surround for the console mounted shifter, all of which add a distinct touch of class over the standard interior. Nice fade free crushed velour broadcloth with some tuck and roll inserts and smooth maroon vinyl bolsters form up the seating, and a large central armrest can be lifted to create an extra passenger space. Cruise control is noted, and A/C is on board as is an AM/FM/Cassette player is fitting neatly into a square panel. Slipping inside we are greeted with mid 1980's square and rectangle design for the dash, all functioning controls, and nicely set up for ease of operation. Much like showroom, extremely clean surfaces starting with the swing of the doors revealing the door panels utilizing smooth padded vinyl in gray, molded plastic in excellent condition which houses the door pull, power windows, power locks and side view mirror joystick. Nearly new chrome 15-inch Cragar wheels are wrapped in blackwall Cooper Cobra radials from the 12th week of 2022 on all 4 corners. I've always loved this year's El Camino with its in bumper tail lights, and curved rear glass, and this one the bumper on back and that rear window are just pristine. ![]() Badging is all near perfect, and even the door handle notes its “Designer Series”. Covering the bed is a snap on black tonneau cover with an added rear spoiler and chrome tie down rails complete the package. The hood has a rear facing scoop, and in the back, the bed on this example is lined with a rubber liner and shows with age appropriate wear. The El Camino SS has aerodynamic-ground effect style rocker fairings but does not have the very rare faux side exhaust vents. In addition to the aerodynamic nose treatment that was the primary styling feature of all El Camino SS's, all vehicles received graphics on the fascia, doors and tailgate, and a small chrome train logo above the glove compartment door. A few spider cracks are seen in the finish on the rocker fairings and there is a very small rust bubble on the lower rear driver's bed side, just in front of the bumper. ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.***ĭonning the Choo Choo SS appearance package add-on from the dealership, this black beauty sports exacting gaps of straight steel panels and what appears to be the factory application of paint. Oh, I cannot forget to mention a huge binder of paperwork including repair receipts and the sales invoice, order form and clean CarFax that are included with the car. Very well maintained and with tons of upgrades including a rebuilt engine and transmission, new Cragar wheels and an added rear spoiler make for one snappy appearing and running hauler. The final year for the El Camino and this model is carrying the SS decor package and is one of approximately 861 Choo Choo conversion cars built for the model year. Someone from GM thought that was a good idea, and hence the EL Camino was born, although technically the Ford Ranchero beat them to it, (1957 as opposed to 1959), but hey it's a great story! For consignment, a Choo Choo Custom version of the El Camino right out of 1987. The concept of a truck-like car came from a farm woman in Australia who wanted a truck to haul hay on the weekdays, and a car she could drive to church on Sunday. In fact, Elliot was so impressed by Bradley's custom El Camino, he insisted that Mattel use it as a model for the first line of Hot Wheels toy cars, (The Fleetside). ![]() Rumor has it that Mattel's Elliot Handler, (the 'el' in Mattel), spotted designer Harry Bradley's El Camino in the Mattel HQ parking lot and commented, “Those are some hot wheels,” coining the new name for Mattel's line of toy cars, Hot Wheels.

![]() ![]() In a United Airlines subreddit, a Reddit user shared a photo at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport of a staff member. Now look out and watch people get out of the way. Its never OK to steal orange traffic cones. You can stencil on some markings to indicate the owner of the traffic cone: Dept of Traffic, Utility Company, property of the BUG Company - Brooklyn Union Gas, etc. The tape piece would need to be somewhat arc shaped to fit correctly. I've got a batch of glass microbead sandblasting media that I might try to see if it is similar to the stuff they use to dust the freshly painted lines in the street. You can also glue and sprinkle some glitter on there later to increase the realism of your traffic cone. Since I don't have any real retroreflective tape, I freehanded two bands on the cone by painting the borders of the strips leaving an exposed strip of white. Traffic cones have an added strip or strips of retroreflective tape(tiny glass mirror beads are embedded in the paint) to increase visibility when lights shine on it, a safety feature especially useful when car headlights bounce off the traffic cone to warn the driver of something ahead. You can also apply a weathered look by drybrushing - dab just a drop of black and white paint on your brush, apply feather strokes to get graying and a weather worn look. ![]() It smeared some of the paint and I liked the weatherbeaten look to it. When touching up the black trim on the bottom, I used a rag to wipe up some errant paint and just wiped it all over the cone. I painted the bottom black to simulate the rubber base. The paint is a fluorescent school bus yellow that I added red to get the right color. I used acrylic paints for easy cleanup and knew that this would not really be exposed to the elements like a real traffic cone. Lastly, I found a CalTrans logo on the web, printed it out and glued it on the front of the costume for that extra bit of authenticity and recognizable. The cone was primed with white acrylic paint. Each time he wore the costume we had to tape him into it - the back seam area had an extra tape layer to make the subsequent layers of tape easily removable. ![]() And I cut a little bit of the cone away right under his chin so it wouldn’t stick him in the face. Unfortunately the poster board was not big enough to fashion a complete cone, so I did have to use some scrap poster board pieces at the bottom back to make the body wide enough to fit correctly.īoth hat and body pieces are completely covered on the inside with clear packing tape for added strength and pliability. The same general idea was used to create the body and even more trial and error to get it to fit over his shoulders and body. I used the hat as a template for cutting the holographic sticker paper border and a hole punch for attachment points for the ribbon. I began by making a template out of newspaper (using our actual cone as a form) for the hat, it took some trial and error (and some high school geometry/trigonometry) to get the fit right. I got the orange poster board (2 sheets), holographic sticker paper (4 sheets) and orange ribbon at the craft/fabric store and the orange onesie at Target (already had the grey construction PJs). I knew immediately that I would make a “dunce-like” hat for the top piece, the body piece would have arm holes and he’d wear an orange onesie. I wanted something relatively easy to make and upon seeing an actual traffic cone in our garage it dawned on me that here was my answer to a Homemade Traffic Cone Toddler Halloween Costume. My 4.5 year old son had decided to be a backhoe for Halloween, so I had to come up with a “sidekick” costume for my 11 month old. Uniqly carved and shaped minerals that are perfect art pieces.
